Lately I cannot get enough of any beer remotely resembling a Belgian-style "Trappist" ale. What does this have to do with beards? Not a whole heck of a lot. However, on this fantastic site you can find an abundance of information about the Trappist fathers and their beer(s) through the ages. Some of the fathers have had beards, or so some breweries who manufacture "beer in the style of the Trappists" would have you believe.

And while it is true that plenty of these opportunistically-minded brewers have employed the use of clean-shaven monks, I would of course trust a monk with a beard over one without. Your results may differ.
